Vacuum Brazing of Tungsten Carbide & Stainless Steel

Vacuum brazing of tungsten carbide and stainless steel is an advanced joining process used to manufacture strong, durable, and wear-resistant components. Tungsten carbide provides excellent hardness and wear resistance, while stainless steel offers strength, toughness, and corrosion resistance. Vacuum brazing enables these dissimilar materials to be joined with clean and reliable joints.

Process:

The process begins with cleaning, surface preparation, and precise positioning of the tungsten carbide and stainless steel components. A suitable brazing filler metal is placed between the joining surfaces. The assembly is then heated inside a high-vacuum brazing furnace under controlled temperature conditions. The molten filler flows uniformly into the joint and forms a strong bond. Controlled heating and cooling help minimize oxidation, thermal stress, distortion, and cracking.

Application Industries:

Vacuum-brazed tungsten carbide and stainless steel components are widely used in automotive, aerospace, mining, oil & gas, mold & die, metalworking, medical, and general manufacturing industries. Typical applications include cutting tools, drilling tools, wear-resistant components, dies, machining tools, and precision industrial parts.

With excellent joint strength, clean surfaces, precise temperature control, and reliable performance, vacuum brazing provides an effective solution for joining tungsten carbide with stainless steel in demanding industrial applications.
